COVID-19 cases at London area schools on the rise

The Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) reported four new COVID-19 cases at local schools.

In a release issued by the school board late Tuesday evening, Central and Winchester in Woodstock, Northridge in London, and Central Elgin Collegiate Institute in St. Thomas all recorded infections linked to the schools.

Winchester Public School is dealing with two active cases of the virus following an infection being reported on Monday. Central Elgin now has three active cases.

With the exception of Central Public School, all other schools will stay open. Staff and students at Central will switch to remote learning and a return to in-school learning is expected following Spring Break on April 19.

Close contacts of the affected individuals will be contacted by the school board and advised to stay home and quarantine for 14 days. The Thames Valley says Southwestern Public Health and the Middlesex London Health Unit continue to investigate the cases and will follow up with those as necessary.

The TVDSB has 26 active cases within its school communities. More information on the cases can be found here.
