London police investigate suspicious fire at old chapel

A fire that broke out at a chapel on the grounds of London's old psychiatric hospital is being treated as suspicious.

Police and fire crews were called to the Chapel of Hope at 850 Highbury Avenue shortly after noon on Thursday.

Firefighters say light smoke could be seen coming out of the boarded up building. Crews were able to gain access into the chapel and put the fire out quickly.

No one was found inside the structure.

Members of the London Police street crime unit continue to investigate the cause the blaze.
