Thousands of pot plants seized in Tillsonburg

Provincial police have seized thousands of cannabis plants from a commercial building in Tillsonburg.

OPP officers, including members of the West Region emergency response team and canine unit, raided the building on Spruce Street on Thursday. Inside, officers found thousands of potted marijuana plants in various stages of growth.

Ten people, who have not been identified, were arrested as part of the investigation. All ten have been charged with cultivating, propagating or harvesting cannabis plants not at their dwelling contrary to the Cannabis Act.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges are pending, police said.

SPS Board Chair Kelly Ash said the decision followed discussions with Acting Chief Mike Federico and aligns with practices at other police services.
