Woman followed by man on Woodstock trail

Police in Woodstock are looking for a man on a bicycle who allegedly followed a woman along a local trail.

The woman was cycling along the Roth Park Trail on Friday when she was approached by a man on a bike. The man proceeded to follow and keep pace with her. At one point, the man stopped to wait for the woman after she allowed him to pass by her, Woodstock police said.

The man continued to watch the woman until she left the park area.

Police describe the man as approximately 30-years-old and heavy set. He was wearing a black hoodie, jeans, black ball cap, red gloves, and sunglasses and was riding a black pedal bike.

The incident has left police reminding the public to always use the buddy system by riding or walking in pairs whenever possible. They also added it is best to keep a cellphone handy and always let a family member or friend know where you are and when you expect to be back.

Anyone with information about the Roth Park Trail incident is asked to call police at 519-537-2323 or Crime Stoppers 519-421-TIPS (8477).
