Two Londoners charged after guns, $352K in drugs seized

More than three dozen charges have been laid against a man and woman after London police seized two loaded guns, fentanyl, cocaine, and other drugs during a raid in the northeast-end.

Officers with the newly formed crime gun task force and emergency response unit searched a home on Gatewood Road north of Huron Street, as well as a vehicle on Thursday afternoon. The searches turned up a loaded 9mm firearm, a loaded .22 calibre handgun, and a quantity of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, hydromorphone pills, morphine pills, and Xanax pills.

The drugs seized are worth approximately $352,360.

A 37-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, both from London, were arrested in connection with the case. They are charged with a combined 37 offences including unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, possession of a loaded regulated firearm, occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been tampered with, and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking

The two accused are scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges on Friday.

This was the second bust for the crime gun task force this week. Raids on homes on Dundee Place and Simcoe Street Tuesday and Wednesday led to the seizure of a loaded .22 calibre rifle, ammunition, and a quantity of drugs. Two men and a woman were charged in that investigation. The task force was formed late last month in response to rising gun-related crimes in the city since the start of the year.
