Man charged in Woodstock carjacking

Charges have been laid against a Tillsonburg man, accused of carjacking and injuring an elderly woman in Woodstock last week.

The 84-year-old woman was in the area of Norwich Avenue near Juliana Drive and Bruin Boulevard around 6:15 p.m. on April 12 when she was approached by a man. The man pulled an "edged weapon" on the woman before stealing her pickup truck, Woodstock police said.

The woman suffered minor injuries in the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Following an investigation, a 38-year-old Tillsonburg man was arrested. He is charged with three counts of robbery with a weapon.

Police again thanked bystanders who assisted the elderly woman after the theft and those who provided information to investigators.
