Back to normal? London airport announces December Sunwing flights

Londoners in need of a vacation may finally be able to take one this winter.

As the number of vaccinated Canadians rises, the London International Airport says it will be offering flights to some sunny destinations this December.

Sunwing will be operating flights to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (on Wednesdays from December 15 to April 20, 2022), Cancun, Mexico (on Thursdays from December 16 to April 14, 2022), and Varadero, Cuba (Fridays from December 17 until April 15, 2022) through the winter and into the spring.

“After over a year of travel restrictions and staying home, we’re looking forward to welcoming Sunwing back to London International Airport,” said Airport President Mike Seabrook in a news release, “Sunwing vacation packages are consistently popular amongst London sunseekers, and with three tropical destinations to choose from, vacationers will be able to safely head back to paradise right from their doorstep.”

The airport has been struggling during the pandemic, with significant decrease in demand for all flights, including domestic ones.
