Long-term care employee charged in drug thefts

An employee at a Woodstock long-term care facility has been accused of stealing prescription medication.

The Woodstock Police Service Criminal Investigations Bureau launched an investigation after being notified that prescribed narcotics for a patient had gone missing.

On Thursday, police said a 36-year-old woman was charged with six counts of theft under $5,000. The woman will appear in court at a later date.

Police did not name the long-term care home or the accused.
