Motorcyclist clocked at more than double the speed limit

A 17-year-old will be without his licence and motorcycle for a week after police say he was doing more than twice the speed limit on a city street.

Police say the teen was riding a motorcycle on Commissioners Road near Wonderland Road on Friday morning when an officer clocked him at 143 km/h. The speed limit on that stretch of Commissioners is 60 km/h.

The teen is charged with stunt driving and his licence and motorcycle were seized for seven days.

On Monday, the Ford government introduced legislation that would see stiffer penalties for stunt drivers, including longer licence suspensions.
