Police searching for man who crashed vehicle, stole another

London police are looking for a man they allege ran from a three-vehicle crash involving a cement truck and stolen vehicle before stealing a pickup truck.

Emergency crews were called to the collision at Clarke and Kilally roads in the northeast-end of the city around 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday. No one was seriously hurt in the crash but one of the drivers who was involved reportedly ran from the scene before officers arrived.

The vehicle he had been driving, a black Mazda 3, had been stolen four days earlier, police said.

Shortly after the crash, the same suspect was seen stealing a silver pickup truck from the area of Chippewa Drive and Oakville Avenue. That vehicle was later located on Hyatt Avenue.

Police are now searching for a man described as Caucasian, in his 30s, approximately 5’9”, 180 lbs, with short dark hair, and a thin build. He was originally wearing a black t-shirt, but removed it.  Witnesses said the man had tattoos covering his chest and arms.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
