Five new COVID-19 cases on Saturday

The Middlesex London Health Unit had just five new cases of COVID-19 to report on Saturday.

That increased the total since March 2020 to 12,418, of which 12,095 cases are resolved.

The number of active cases in the region is now 101.

Across Ontario, there were 502 new cases on Saturday and 15 deaths.

Public Health Canada reported its totals at 7 p.m. Friday. There were 1,424 new cases across the country for a total of 1,399,716. Of those, 18,411 are considered active infections. There were also 13 deaths attributed to the virus Friday for a nationwide total of 25,886.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
