Loaded handgun seized in east London

A 28-year-old man is facing nearly ten weapons related charges after London police seized a loaded handgun during a raid on an east-end home.

Officers with the police guns and drugs section and emergency response unit searched the home on Egerton Street near Trafalgar Street and a vehicle on Thursday. A loaded 9mm handgun and a magazine with eight rounds of ammunition were found.

The investigation led to the arrest of a 28-year-old London man. He is charged with nine offences including unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a loaded regulated firearm, careless storage of a firearm, and failure to comply with release order.

The accused was scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges on Friday.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
