Firefighters battle large brush fire south of London

Firefighters from London and Southwold Township sprang into action after a large brush fire ignited overnight south of the city.

The London Fire Department was notified about the blaze along Colonel Talbot Road around 1 a.m. on Thursday. Firefighters arrived and determined the fire was actually on land under Southwold’s jurisdiction. They notified the Southwold Fire Department and the flames were quickly extinguished.

No injuries or property damage have been reported.

The cause of the fire is not known.
