Health unit seeking information in Dutton dog bite incident

Officials with Southwestern Public Health are appealing to those in the Dutton-area for information after someone was reportedly bitten by an unknown dog.

According to the health unit, sometime around 12:30 p.m. Friday, the owner of the Dutton Farm and Auto Supply on 277 Currie Road was in the mechanic shop repairing a tire while a dog was inside the vehicle. When the mechanic entered the car to get a reading of the odometer, the dog bit him in the face.

The animal is described as a large breed dog, possibly a Pyrenean Mastiff, with brindle colouring in its fur. The owner was driving a 2009 gold Chevrolet Equinox.

Anyone with information about the dog's possible owner is asked to call Southwestern Public Health at 519-421-9901 or 1-800-922-0096 and ask to speak to a public health inspector.
