Woman killed in crash near Wardsville

A two-vehicle crash south of Wardsville has claimed the life of a 53-year-old woman.

Emergency crews were called to the collision between a pickup truck and a hatchback on Johnston Line around 8 p.m. on Thursday.

The driver of the hatchback, Leslie McInnis-Walker of Acton, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday in London, Elgin OPP said.

A passenger in the hatchback was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup was not hurt.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.

The crash happened just an hour and a half after a fatal collision in Norfolk County. Victoria Hellyer, 60, was killed when the vehicle she was driving collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Cockshutt Road and Concession 3 in Townsend. The other driver suffered injuries described as non-life threatening.
