Southwestern Public Health said it happened at around 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Victoria Park Community Centre in Ingersoll. The public health unit said a dog who was off-leash began chasing another dog. When a male passerby tried to help get the dog under control, he was bitten.

The dog is described as a tan-coloured, Sheppard-husky mix. The dog's owner was described as a female in her 20s or 30s.

Anyone with information on this incident or who can identify the animal should call Southwestern Public Health at (519) 421-9901, or 1-800-922-0096 to speak with a public health inspector.
