Two people hospitalized after fire truck collides with vehicle

Two people were sent to hospital after a crash involving a fire truck in Elgin County.

The fire truck collided with another vehicle shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Belmont Road and Ron McNeil Line in Central Elgin.

Provincial police initially said one of the two people hurt had suffered serious injuries. However, in a later update said that individual's injuries were not life threatening.

No further details about the collision have been provided. A section of Belmont Road between Ron McNeil Line and Edgeware Line were closed for several hours while investigators completed their work.
