UPDATE: One dead following shooting in London

London police are investigating a homicide after a shooting left one person dead in the city’s north end.

Officers were called Friday night about reports of multiple gunshots fired in the area of Wateroak Drive and Heardcreek Trail around 7:55 p.m.

Police said one person was found at the scene and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The person, who has not been identified, later succumbed to their injuries.

This incident is believed to have been a targeted attack and there is no threat to public safety, police said. This investigation is in the preliminary stages.

Officers remain at the scene and multiple investigative branches of the London Police Service are working in collaboration on the investigation.
