Impaired driving charge laid in crash that caused 4 hour power outage

A 30-year-old London woman is facing impaired driving charges after a single-vehicle crash that left residents in Thames Centre in the dark for several hours.

Middlesex OPP were called to the crash on Shaw Road between Trafalgar Street and Gore Road around 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday. A vehicle had gone off the road and hit a hydro pole.

The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The damage to the hydro pole caused power to be out in the area for four hours, police said.

A 30-year-old London woman is charged with operating a vehicle while impaired by drugs. She will appeared in court in relation to the charges on October 27.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
