Charges laid in brutal assault

London police say a 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with an assault that left the victim fighting for life in hospital.

Police were called early Saturday morning to the area of John and Talbot Streets for a report of an assault.

When they arrived, they found the 18-year-old victim suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition. According to police, his condition has since been upgraded to serious.

Police announced on Monday that they have arrested and charged a suspect. Ho Lee, 19, of London is charged with aggravated assault.

"The accused and the victim were not known to each other prior to this assault taking place," police said.

Lee appeared in court on Sunday and will return to court on November 17.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
