One dead after fire in Southwest Middlesex

One person is dead after a fire at a property west of London.

Around 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, fire crews and police were called to a property on Melbourne Road in Southwest Middlesex Township. Members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police, the Strathroy-Caradoc Fire Department, the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation Fire Department, and Middlesex-London EMS were called to the scene.

One person was found and pronounced dead by the Coroner.

The identity of the deceased is not being released until next of kin can be notified.

Middlesex OPP are assiting the Office of the Fire Marshal to determine the cause of the blaze.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
