COVID-19 outbreak declared at Ryerson Public

A fifth school in London is dealing with an outbreak of COVID-19.

The Middlesex London Health Unit declared the outbreak at Ryerson Public School on Monday.

Currently, there are two active cases at the school at 940 Waterloo St.

There are four other schools in the city with active outbreaks - Lord Elgin Public School, London Christian High, St. Catherine of Siena Elementary School, and St. Kateri Elementary School. With the exception of Lord Elgin, all of the schools have remained open. Only those deemed close contacts of the infected have been contacted directly by public health officials and instructed to isolate at home.

The Thames Valley District School Board identified six new cases of COVID-19 at five other schools on Tuesday. There is one case each at CC Carrouthers Public School in London, East Elgin Secondary School in Aylmer, Glendale High School in Tillsonburg, and Mountsfield Public School in London. Two cases were detected at Saunders Secondary School in London.

As of Tuesday morning, there are a total of 28 active cases at 21 schools within the Thames Valley Board and nine active cases at seven schools within the London District Catholic School Board.
