Man charged after armed robbery

London police say a 21-year-old man is facing charges after an armed robbery near Richmond Row.

According to police, a man was walking in the area of Richmond Street and Albert Street around 3:30 a.m. Saturday when he was approached by two men. The men pushed the victim to the ground and robbed him of his identification and some property. Police say one of the men told the victim he had a knife, while the other pulled out what looked like a handgun.

The victim flagged down a police officer and provided descriptions of the suspects.

A man fitting one of the descriptions was seen getting into a Dodge Charger near Richmond and Central Avenue. Officers pulled the car over and arrested those inside. They also seized a replica firearm and a knife.

"Identification belonging to the male victim was located in the possession of one of the occupants of the vehicle," police said.

A 21-year-old London man is charged with armed robbery and use of an imitation firearm during the commission of an indictable offence.

The other occupants of the car were released without charges.
