Pedestrian hit by vehicle remains in critical condition

London police continue to investigate a collision downtown that left a pedestrian fighting for life in hospital.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Waterloo Street and Central Avenue around 9 p.m. on Friday after a man was hit by a northbound vehicle.

According to police, the man had "stepped into the street against a marked crosswalk just north of Central Avenue" and was struck. He was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

As of late Monday morning, the man remains in hospital in critical condition, police said.

The investigation, which is ongoing, has been assigned to the police traffic management unit. Anyone with information about this collision is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
