Woodstock police respond to report of man carrying rifle

Woodstock police have launched an investigation after they received a report about a man walking around with a firearm in a popular shopping area.

At around 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, emergency dispatchers notified police about a report of a male suspect carrying a rifle in the area of Norwich Avenue and Montclair Drive.

Members of the Uniform Patrol, Containment Team and Community Response Unit responded to the area immediately in an effort to locate a suspect. Officers later cleared several nearby businesses and say no threat to public safety was located.

The police department has since launched a mischief investigation.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
