'Suspicious' fire leads to arson charges

A fire in a north London apartment has led to arson charges against a 29-year-old Londoner.

Fire crews were called to the blaze on Adelaide Road near Huron Street around 11:45 a.m. on Monday. Firefighters put out the blaze and determined that it was suspicious in nature. No injuries were reported and damage was estimated at $20,000.

An investigation led to the arrest of a suspect. A 29-year-old man is charged with one count of arson with disregard for human life and one count of arson causing damage to property.

London police say he has been released from custody with a court date of January 18, 2022.
