More COVID-19 outbreaks declared at Thames Valley schools

Officials with the Thames Valley District School Board reported two new COVID-19 outbreaks on Friday.

The outbreaks are linked to Huron Park Secondary School in Woodstock, which now has three active cases, and McGregor Public School in Aylmer, which also has three cases. Elsewhere in Aylmer, Davenport Public School recorded a single case of COVID-19 on Friday.

There are now four TVDSB schools dealing with outbreaks after Algonquin Public School in Woodstock announced an outbreak on Thursday. Wilberforce Public School is the only school out of the four in outbreak status that was forced to close after the number of active cases reached 18 earlier this week.

"Thames Valley wishes to assure the community that all staff, parents and guardians of the school communities were immediately notified," a statement from the school board read. "Health units investigate cases to identify close contacts and follow up directly to provide specific testing advice."

All positive COVID-19 cases past and present are tracked on the school board's website.
