UPDATE: One in custody as police probe death, man charged

London police have identified a man taken into custody Thursday after a disturbance call led to the discovery of a dead man in a home in the Woodfield neighbourhood.

According to police, officers were called around 6:40 a.m. to a home on Cartwright Street near Princess Avenue. When they arrived, they found a deceased man in the home.

Roughly 20 minutes later, a man was arrested nearby.

"The deceased and the male in custody are known to each other and there is nothing to indicate an outstanding threat to public safety in regards to this occurrence," police said.

Early Thursday evening, police announced 42-year-old Kenneth Cardiff of London is charged with second degree murder in relation to the investigation.

The investigation by the Major Crime Section is ongoing and more information will be released at a later time police said.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
