Vancouver senior charged after Strathroy fraud investigation

A 72-year-old man from Vancouver, B.C. is facing fraud charges following a nearly eight month investigation by Strathroy-Caradoc police.

Police launched their probe at the request of the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc in April.

With the assistance of the Vancouver Police Department's financial crimes unit, Strathroy police searched a home in the city of Vancouver last Wednesday.

Yiu Sun Wong was arrested as a result of the investigation. He is charged with fraud over $5,000 and fraudulent concealment. Wong was returned to Strathroy on Friday where he was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear at a bail hearing in London on Monday.

No other details about the alleged fraudulent activities or the investigation have been released.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
