Man charged in baseball bat assault

Charges have been laid after a man was beaten with a baseball bat in downtown London.

According to London police, around 5 p.m. Tuesday, the 50-year-old victim was walking on York Street near Colborne Street when he was approached by an aquaintance. Police say the two men argued, and the victim was beaten with a baseball bat and cut with a sharp object.

The victim tried to run away, but the assailant followed. The victim was able to call police from the area of Horton Street and Wellington Street. He was then taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"The entire incident was captured on video surveillance," police said.

Officers arrested a suspect and seized a baseball bat.

A 29-year-old London man is charged with aggravated assault and failing to comply with a release order.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
