COVID-19 cases on the rise at Thames Valley schools

Eight more schools within the London-area are reporting new cases of  COVID-19.

Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) confirmed the new infections Sunday night at the following schools:

• Glen Cairn Public School- London

•Lord Elgin Public School - London

•Tecumseh Public School - London

•Huron Park Secondary School - Woodstock

•Southside Public School - Woodstock

•Locke’s Public School - St. Thomas

•Pierre Elliott Trudeau French Immersion Public School - St. Thomas

•Lord Dorchester Secondary School - Dorchester

"Thames Valley wishes to assure the community that all staff, parents and guardians of the school communities were immediately notified," the school board said.

Only the staff and students who have been identified as a close contacts of the infected individuals will be notified and advised to stay home from school. They will also be asked to quarantine for a period of 10 days.

The TVDSB hasn't declared any new outbreaks, but active cases at schools within the board now stand at 68.

All confirmed active cases are tracked on the TVDSB website.
