UPDATE: Several pedestrians injured in southwest London crash

Multiple people were taken to hospital and a large stretch of a southwest London intersection closed after a serious crash Tuesday evening.

The collision happened along Riverside Drive just west of Wonderland Road at around 6:45 p.m.

London police confirmed a number of pedestrians and vehicles were struck during the incident, resulting in several people being taken to hospital with injuries ranging from life-threatening to minor.

"We don't have an exact number of how many [people] were transported at this time," Constable Sandasha Bough told London News Today. "We can say that members of our Traffic Management Unit are currently on scene investigating what took place."

Bough added that those involved remained on scene and the incident is not considered a hit-and-run.

No other details on the ages of those struck has been confirmed by police.

When asked if the crash could possibly be malicious in nature, or an alleged impaired driving incident, Bough told LondonNewsToday.ca that the investigation is still in the very early stages. London police later announced that there is nothing that indicates the incident was intentional.

Wonderland Road between Springbank Drive and Kingsway Avenue and Riverside Drive between Braemar Crescent and Warren Road were both closed for roughly 12 hours. Police announced the roads were fully reopened just after 7 a.m. on Wednesday.
