Charge laid in hit and run

A London man is now charged in connection with a hit and run that left a woman in hospital.

Around 11:50 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, emergency crews were called to the area of Highbury Avenue and Brydges Street, where a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle. The pedestrian, a 31-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Police say she is still in hospital, in fair condition.

According to police, the driver left the scene.

After an investigation, police announced Tuesday that a 32-year-old London man is now charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm.

He is to appear in court March 1, 2022.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
