UPDATE: Man charged in Wharncliffe Road homicide

One man is dead and another has been charged with murder after a violent clash inside a west London home Wednesday night.

London police were called to the home on Wharncliffe Road South near Elmwood Avenue around 11 p.m. where they found a 56-year-old man with "multiple lacerations."

Officers began life-saving efforts until paramedics arrived. The man was taken to hospital where he later died.

A 40-year-old man who was identified Thursday afternoon as Robert Charnock faces one charge of second-degree murder. He appeared in court earlier on Thursday and was later placed back into custody. The identity of the deceased is not being released until next of kin is notified.

The police major crime section has launched an investigation, which is in its early stages, police said.

No other details about the homicide have been released.

This is the city's fourteenth murder of the year.
