Tap for Toys collects toys, cash for Salvation Army

The holiday season will be a little brighter for many families in London, thanks to the generosity of fans of Classic Rock 98.1.

The radio station held its annual Tap for Toys event at the corner of Richmond Street and Piccadilly Street on Friday morning. Listeners were invited to come by the intersection to donate toys, cash, and use their debit cards to 'tap' their donation.

Over the course of three hours, listeners and passersby donated roughly $7,000 and several toys that will help the Salvation Army fill its Christmas Hampers for families in need.

"It was just fantastic to see how many people stopped by to make donations," Valdron said. "It's really inspiring to know that there are so many people who want to make sure others, especially kids, have a happy holiday."

Anyone who wasn't able to make it to Richmond and Piccadilly on Friday morning, but still wants to donate, can do so by clicking here.
