Wrong way driver accused of driving drunk

A London man is facing charges including impaired driving after a vehicle was seen going the wrong way on Highway 402.

The Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police say officers were called to the westbound lanes of the highway in Strathroy-Caradoc Township around 4:25 a.m. Sunday. According to police, callers said the vehicle was seen going east in the westbound lanes before crossing the median into the eastbound lanes.

"The vehicle initially failed to stop for officers, however not long after, the vehicle slowed and a traffic stop was initiated," police said.

A 26-year-old London man is now charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving, driving while under suspension, driving with cannabis readily available, possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of a prohibited device or ammunition.

The accused is to appear in court January 28.
