Video leads to arrest in robbery

London police say surveillance video obtained from a nearby business helped them find and arrest a suspect in a downtown robbery.

Around 1:45 a.m. on Friday, December 17, a woman was walking in the area of Wellington Street and Queens Avenue when a man started yelling at her. According to police, he followed her and eventually grabbed her, stole her purse, and ran into Victoria Park.

The woman wasn't injured.

"Video of the robbery was obtained from nearby businesses, and on Tuesday December 21, 2021, officers identified and arrested the suspect," police said.

A man of no fixed address is now charged with one count of robbery and one count of fraud.
