London man charged after $19K in liquor destroyed

London police say a man faces charges after numerous bottles of alcohol were destroyed at a southwest LCBO location.

At around 10 a.m. Monday, shortly after the store opened, police say a male suspect in possession of an axe entered the store located at 3050 Wonderland Road South. Officers allege the man caused property damage by smashing liquor bottles and other structures inside the business. He later fled on foot and police were called.

No one was hurt during the ordeal, and total damages sustained from the incident are estimated at $19,200.

Police located and arrested a 27-year-old London man a short time later just up the road from the store.

He is charged with one count of carrying a weapon dangerous to the public peace and property damage over $5,000.
