Suspect arrested, charged with attempted murder after Christmas break-in

Middlesex OPP have made an arrest in connection with a violent break-in at a Melbourne business on Christmas day -- but they're still looking for two more suspects.

Police said members of the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation Police Service and the Middlesex OPP Crime Unit arrested a 50-year-old Chippewas of the Thames First Nation resident on Thursday who is now charged with several offences including attempted murder.

The accused was also charged with one count of robbery, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and one count of disguise with intent and was taken into custody with a court appearance scheduled for December 31, 2021 in London.

Police said they are still looking for two more suspects in connection with the incident.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
