Londoners among 17 facing weapons charges

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged 17 people with weapons offenses on New Year's Day in Dufferin county.

Just before 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dufferin OPP officers received a call for the sound of gunshots at a rural property in Melancthon Township.

The OPP said that they heard the sound of gunshots coming from a large field on County Road 17 when they arrived on the scene.

After entering the location, police said that they seized eight firearms.

A total of 28 charges were laid against 17 individuals.

A 22-year-old and a 23-year-old from London are among the group.

The investigation is ongoing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
