Drug trafficking charges laid after vehicle rollover on Highway 401

A single-vehicle rollover in Southwold Township has led to drug trafficking charges being laid against a Toronto man.

Elgin OPP were called to the crash on Highway 401 near Mill Road early on January 2.

The driver was not seriously hurt.

During the investigation, police found a large amount of cash, numerous cellphones, and several unmarked containers of different prescription drugs inside the vehicle.

A 34-year-old Toronto man has been charged with six offences including possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, careless driving, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failure to comply with a release order.

The man is scheduled to appear in St. Thomas court.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
