St. Thomas man charged with breaking into home, resisting arrest

St. Thomas police are crediting an observant neighbour for stopping a break-in over the weekend.

The person called police after spotting someone they didn't know at their neighbour's house just after 5 p.m. on Saturday. Officers arrived to find the home had been broken into and a purse stolen from the homeowner.

A 36-year-old man was arrested nearby.

"The male resisted being arrested but was eventually brought under control," police said.

The man is charged with break and enter and resisting arrest.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
