Wrong way trucker on 402 charged

A truck driver is facing charges after police say a transport was spotted driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 402 when they were closed on Thursday.

The Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police say they got reports just before 9 a.m. Thursday about the transport going the wrong way in the westbound lanes, which had been closed due to weather conditions.

"As officers arrived on scene, the transport was observed travelling in the proper direction after completing a multi-point turn after entering the highway from a westbound off-ramp," police said in a news release issued Friday.

A 51-year-old Windsor resident is charged under the Highway Traffic Act.with driving on a closed highway and driving the wrong way on a divided highway.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
