Gun call leads to charges

London police say an 18-year-old man is charged after officers were called to a report of a man with a gun.

Around 6:45 a.m. Sunday, there was a 9-1-1 call about a man who the caller believed was in possession of a gun at a home on Cedarpark Way. The man left the home before police arrived.

"Members of the Ontario Provincial Police were notified and assisted LPS officers in the search for the suspect," police said.

Around 7:40 a.m., the suspect was found asleep in a vehicle on Fairfax Court. According to police, he tried to run from officers, but was taken into custody. Officers seized a replica firearm.

An 18-year-old is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, resisting arrest, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

The accused is to appear in court on Wednesday.
