Driver charged after vehicle goes through fence, lands on roof

London police have laid charges against a driver whose vehicle was found on its roof following a Monday afternoon crash.

The ordeal happened just before 3:30 p.m. police say. Emergency crews attended the scene near the underpass along Wellington Street near Horton Street for a report of a single-vehicle crash.

According to police, the driver was driving east on Bathurst Street when his vehicle left the road and crashed through fenced guard-rails on the west side of Wellington Street. The vehicle fell approximately four metres in front of the underpass, landing on its roof.

No one was injured during the incident.

Officers say the driver fled from the area before police arrived. He was located a short time later near the area after witnesses provided a description of the man to police.

As a result, a 32-year-old London man is charged with dangerous driving, failing to remain at the scene of a crash, and driving while suspended.

The man was taken into police custody pending a court appearance on Tuesday.
