Call about suspected drunk driver leads police to stolen vehicle

A London man is facing charges after police found drugs and a vehicle that had been previously reported stolen in the east-end.

London police got a call about a possible impaired driver on Clarke Road north of Dundas Street around 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday. Officers found a vehicle matching the description provided parked in a nearby parking lot.

A man was standing behind the vehicle, police said.

An investigation determined the vehicle had been stolen a few hours earlier from a home in Dorchester.

A 33-year-old London man was arrested. An undisclosed quantity of drugs was seized by police during the arrest.

The man has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of drugs, and failure to comply with an undertaking. He is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges on May 6.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
