Parkhill man wins $500K

A Parkhill man is $500,000 richer after buying a Daily Grand lottery ticket.

Ontario Lottery and Gaming says Tim Poore, 61, matched all five numbers to win a second prize of $25,000 a year for life in the January 17 Daily Grand draw. Poore opted for the $500,000 lump sum payment.

Poole says he has been playing lotteries for 30 years, but this is his first big win.

"I remembered there was a ticket in my car console, so I brought it inside to check," he recalled. "I scanned it at the Ticket Checker and it said, 'Big Winner!'"

Poore says he going to use the win as an opportunity to slow down and prepare for retirement.

"We plan to do some work around the house and install our dream bathroom. I might treat myself to a new vehicle," he said.
