Cyclist taken to hospital after collision in east London

A cyclist had to be taken to hospital after being hit by a vehicle in east London Wednesday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the collision at Trafalgar and Elm streets around 8:30 a.m.

The cyclist suffered unknown injuries and was taken to hospital, London police said.

No other details about the collision were released.

Trafalgar between Hyla and Price streets, and Elm Street between Sycamore Street and Hamilton Road was closed while police investigated. The road was reopened around 9:45 a.m.

It was the second street in the east end of the city to be closed Wednesday morning because of a crash.

Just before 2 a.m., a vehicle collided with a hydro pole on Oxford Street between Elizabeth and Gammage streets. That section of road is expected to remain closed until the afternoon as hydro crews repair damaged power lines.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
