Police seek man wanted on assault, weapons charges

London police are searching for a man wanted in relation to a pair of downtown assaults late last month.

On February 22 at around 2:30 p.m., police say the suspect was on a city bus in the area of Oxford Street East and Richmond Street when he allegedly approached and assaulted a man with a knife.

Police say the accused then followed another man off of the bus and reportedly assaulted him as well.

Officers were called to the scene and the second victim was treated for minor injuries. Police have not yet identified the first victim, and are encouraging him to come forward.

Investigators obtained footage of the assaults and on Friday, police announced the suspect has been identified as 20-year-old Allen Jeffery "A.J." Young of London.

He is charged by way of warrant with assault, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon.

Anyone with information about the incidents, or who knows the whereabouts of Young is asked to call the London police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
