The London Food Bank said it is accepting donations for the London Ukrainian Centre to assist and express solidarity with the Ukrainian people as the country remains under siege by Russian forces.
On Monday, officials with the food bank announced Londoners can leave non-perishable donations, including feminine hygiene products, diapers and other items for Ukrainian people, in grocery store bins across the city.
"The conflict in Ukraine has dominated our minds and hearts. The thought of 1.5 million refugees suddenly produced in less than two weeks is challenging, but we all can help," read a statement from the London Food Bank.
Donations for Ukraine must be marked with either a yellow or blue ribbon, writing 'UKRAINE' on the donation bag/box, or drawing a Ukrainian flag on the donation. Specifically identified donations will not be distributed through the London Food Bank system, they will be delivered to the London Ukraine Centre.
"The London Food Bank has always stood ready to assist in these emergencies in the past, and helping the Ukrainian people, either overseas through targeted donations or our general food supply to refugees that have arrived in London is one of our key priorities," the statement read.
Last week, the London Ukraine Centre announced it would be collecting priority items and financial donations to help those displaced by the Russian invasion. While food and diapers are still being accepted, the centre said there is an increased need for first aid items.
